On Sunday 15th January David made his way to the famous Carnegie Hall in New York to take part in the American premiere of Karl Jenkins’ Cantata Memoria: For the Children.
The critically acclaimed oratorio was commissioned by S4C to mark 50 years since the Aberfan Disaster, where 144 people, including 116 pupils at Ysgol Pantglas Primary School were killed. The large-scale work is scored for orchestra and chorus - singing in Welsh, English, and Latin - and features David as euphonium soloist alongside Welsh bass-baritone Sir Byrn Terfel, Elin Manahan Thomas, harpist Catrin Finch, and Cor Caerdydd.
Cantata Memoria was given its world premiere in Cardiff in October 2016, and has since topped the Official Classical Artist Albums Chart.
