David's commitments as a professional musician continue to increase year on year, but still he ensures brass bands remain a significant part of his music making. Although unable to commit to the full time schedule of most bands, recent months have seen David work with various organisations on a one off basis as both euphonium player and conductor.

Such ensembles have included those from prestigious education establishments such as the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and Cardiff University, both of whom he's conducted in concert. David has also been working with the Flowers band who he's coached in rehearsal and performed with as solo euphonium.

During December David conducted a series of rehearsals and concerts with the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band in Yorkshire which culminated in a concert at Sheffield Cathedral. As a euphonium player David also deputised with the famous Black Dyke Band, however, one of the most important recent events for David was performing as solo euphonium with an 'all star' band at the memorial concert of brass band legend Roy Newsome. David commented, "Dr Newsome was a great man who had a real influence on me when I was a member of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain - it was an honour to play at his concert, and also a privilege to share the stage with so many fine players - Peter Moore, Sheona White, Joe Cook to name but a few."
