From 1994 to 2008 David's father Robert Childs performed as soloist in Luxembourg for Maestro Fred Harles on many occasions. In 2014 Harles once again invited Robert, this time with his son David, to perform in the 40th Anniversary concert of the ensemble he formed, Brass Band du Consevatoire Esch sur Alzette.

The concert which concluded the Band's 40th year celebrations featured four soloists the Band had worked with several times in the past and David who was appearing as a soloist with the band for the very first time.

German trumpeter Reinhold Friedrich, Belgium soprano cornetist Steven Devolder, British trombonist Brett Baker all joined Robert and David for what was a spectacular sell out concert in the beautiful Eglise décanale St. Joseph à Esch-sur-Alzette.

Special Guest conductor Fred Harles directed solo performances by Robert, David, Steven and Reinhold before David and Robert joined for Philip Sparke's Two Part Invention directed by the Band's current Musical Director Guy Conter who also conducted Brett Baker's solo items.
