David has recently spent time at the North American Brass Band Summer School, helping the band prepare music for their contribution to the epic Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. The Tattoo is a week-long event held every year in Nova Scotia, drawing crowds of 60,000 people and an international television audience. The two-and-a-half hour family show is fast-paced – every scene only lasts about 3-6 minutes, so there is always something new to see and experience.

Participation in the Tattoo involves no marching. Attendees perform from a static standing position on the Tattoo stage, together with the massed bands and other performers of the RNSIT itself, and also perform a number of short concerts across the city of Halifax exploring some of the newest and most vibrant British style brass band repertoire, explored via a series of workshops and rehearsals held throughout the performance week.

David never fails to delight in this superbly organised course, working with brilliant music staff together with enthusiastic musicians and friends from all over the world.

This year, David had to leave the course early to fly home to the UK in preparation for concerts in Wales and Germany, but leaves the NABBSS in safe hands with the talented guest musical director Salvatore Scarpa (MD of NABBA Champion, Atlantic Brass), and wishes the band all the best for their upcoming events and concerts.

The dates for the Summer 2018 Course are 23rd June - 3rd July, visit www.nabbss.com to find out more!
