A panel of four independent judges recently voted 'The Syphonic Euphonium' CD featuring David Childs together with Bramwell Tovey and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales the Brass Band World Magazine's 'Solo CD of the Year'. Previous recipients have included Alison Balsom, Steven Mead, and David Childs with his Moto Perpetuo release in 2010. However, in the eyes of the judges 2014 saw the bar raised somewhat:

"I firmly believe that this is the most important solo euphonium CD ever recorded. David's playing is never less than masterful in its musicality, elegance and technical fluidity, but add to that four fine concerti, and a wonderful accompaniment from Bram Tovey and the BBC NOW and this disc really is the complete package."
Chris Thomas - Music Critic

"Once in a lifetime experience for more than one reason. We hear a soloist at the pinnacle of his career, who creates both magical sounds and brilliant virtuosity. This is a 'must-have' CD and not only for euphonium players." Luc Vertommen - Conductor

"The charm and elegance of David's playing is simply breathtaking. I will be listening to this again and again. It's a disc that will appeal not only to brass players, but to music lovers throughout the world." Les Neish - Tuba Sloist
