In recent weeks David has been performing a new solo - Paul Nero's 'The Hot Canary'.

David first performed this solo with the National Childrens Band of Great Britain earlier this month, but last night performed it once again at the Gala concert of the International Brass Band Summer School in Swansea Wales.

The leading online brass magazine, 4barsrest.com were present at the concert and commented on David's performance of this quirky number:

"David Childs delivered playing from a different universe with 'Hot Canary' - which quite unbelievably incorporates 68 super F's in four minutes of virtuosity that left the audience with a permanent grin of their faces – a mixture of disbelief and enjoyment. This was 'Tweety Pie' on steroids."

On this occasion the reviewer was 4barsrest's well respected editor Iwan Fox.
