Master Classes, Workshops, Specialist Tuition & Summer Schools As a 17 year old David taught lower brass at both the University of Ripon & York St. John and the University of York. During the same period he became a Besson solo artist and clinician; In this capacity David has given and continues to give master-classes and workshops tailored to various ages and abilities throughout the world. David is currently a specialist euphonium & baritone tutor at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Cardiff and the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music. Up until 2000 David could be found during most summers playing principal euphonium with the National Youth Brass Bands of Wales and Great Britain, but now he spends his summer as a member of the tutorial staff for various brass summer schools throughout the UK. David is the euphonium & baritone tutor on the Bromsgrove Summer School (formely the Oxford Summer School), International Brass Band Summer School (formely the Sedburgh Summer School), and in 2001 was lower brass tutor on Canford’s Brass Band Summer School. “I have been a fan of music summer schools for a long time. In my opinion a keen brass player of any standard should always strive to improve his or her own musical ability. The unique environment of a summer school enables you to do this and so much more! You can combine the fun of a holiday with the satisfaction of making music with others whilst learning from some of the finest in the business.” For an insight in to what Brass Band Summer Schools are all about and booking information relating to the courses David will be tutoring on this year click here. |
