"Arrived in Japan safe and sound. This evening I rehearsed with the band for Sunday's 'sell out' concert! Was great to play for Dad again, went through a few duets this afternoon too! Peter Graham's also here - he had a concert this evening, as did James MacMillan with the city symphony orchestra - he's on an early morning flight back to the UK for the premiere of his 'Canite Tuba' by Black Dyke in the 125th Anniversary Concert of the British Bandsman magazine at birmingham's symphony hall!"

A few days later...

"Wow! Had a great day today - played Karl Jenkins Concerto for the first time in Japan! On top of that I played the 'Childs Brothers' duet Brillante with my Dad, plus Peter Graham (the composer) conducting! I know its a tune many of you know, but it was premiered 25 years ago to the day (British Bandsman 100th Anniversary Concert) and I grew up listening to it on an LP, so it was pretty special for me. Off to New Zealand tomorrow, but if I wake up early enough I promise to put a little video diary of Japan together for you before I leave! Sleep tight... (12.45am)"

He did wake up early enough! Here's the video!
