Doyen CD number 200, '91Welsh Connection'92 features David accompanied by the Buy As You View Band, currently ranked number 1 in the World. The disc is conducted by David'92s father Robert and boasts a number of premiere recordings including Michael Ball'92s '91Concerto for Euphonium'92 and Philip Sparke'92s '91Harlequin'92.

In addition, new arrangements of Bellstedt'92s '91Napoli'92, Baratt'92s '91Morceau de Concours'92 and Rossini'92s '91Introduction, Theme & Variations'92 can be heard on disc for the first time.

A highlight of this CD is a new setting of Philip Wilby'92s euphonium duet from '91Revelation'92. Philip Wilby has composed an introduction and coda for perhaps the most famous euphonium excerpt in the brass band repertory especially for this recording. This track features both David and his co-principal at Buy As You View, the talented Nigel John.

Other tracks on this new disc include Welsh favourites, '91David of the White Rock'92 and '91Myfanwy.'92 Here is David'92s introduction to the disc:

'93Although I was born in Yorkshire, the country of Wales has been close to my heart from an early age. It is of course where the Childs family are from and a place where some of my fondest memories have been. Many of the pieces on this CD have a '91Welsh Connection'92, some obvious and others quite tenuous. However, even those without a connection are played by a Welsh band and directed by a Welsh conductor.

Having spent my childhood in the North of England, I now live in Wales and this CD is inspired by the music, the culture, the landscape and most importantly, the people that make it such a wonderful and vibrant place to be. It was a pleasure as always to work with my Dad on this project, but I'92d like to pay particular thanks to my friends in the Buy As You View Band '96 a fantastic ensemble who provide a soloist with encouragement and support on every occasion. Every track on this CD contains music I enjoy performing, but my personal favourite has to be Myfanwy, and it is my Grandmother, Morfydd Myfanwy Childs to whom I dedicate this disc.'94
