Success in musical instrument manufacture is based on high levels of quality control combined with traditional craftsmanship and dedication. These skills enhanced by innovative production processes and the use of quality tried and tested tooling ensure the new York Euphonium Range represents everything the professional player looks for in a euphonium: sound quality, ease of response, accurate intonation, wide dynamic and scalar ranges, impeccable valve action, versatility, and true craftsmanship.

Together with Schreiber & Keilwerth, the York Euphonium Range has been developed by some of the world'92s finest euphonium soloists for musicians with the highest expectations. Months of research and development have culminated in the production of three world-class euphoniums for world-class players.

The York Preference 3067 Euphonium is a traditional large bell euphonium with a medium-large bore lead pipe. The instrument benefits from improved intonation throughout the range and is capable of producing a wonderful tone of true sonority in all registers. The ease of response combined with the instrument'92s ability to retain a cantabile quality in the most extreme dynamics make this euphonium the perfect choice for a wide variety of players. The instrument is extremely versatile whether playing as a soloist or chamber musician, and certainly represents the ideal choice for anyone who adores the traditional euphonium sound.

The York Preference 3068 Euphonium is perhaps the most intriguing instrument in the York Euphonium Range. Over the decades a trend in euphonium design has led to the production of bigger instruments capable of producing wide mellow sounds, however, bigger is not always better for all players, so the Preference 3068 has taken its inspiration from the more compact instruments of yesteryear; instruments which when in skilled hands are capable of combining a beautiful sonorous tone with all that a compact instrument has to offer. With various modifications, this small bell, medium lead-pipe euphonium produces a phenomenally focussed glowing sound with an ease of response all will appreciate. Combined with improved intonation and a great feel, this euphonium is simply a joy to play.

The York Eminence 4052 Euphonium could be considered the flagship instrument of the York Euphonium Range. As played by some of the world'92s leading players, this instrument offers traditional sound quality, combined with innovative design and a perfect build. Whether performing brass band, wind band, classical or jazz, this euphonium is a must have commodity of extreme versatility for the serious euphonium player. Research, attention to detail, precision, and thorough '91road-testing'92 in all genres of music have contributed to the design and development of a large bell, large bore euphonium that combines magnificent tone quality with a truly outstanding feel and response. Complete with a revolutionary trigger design, the Eminence 4052 has to be experienced to be believed.

Schreiber Keilwerth's Factory; Markneukirchen, Germany. Built in 2001, this 8000 m2 factory is equipped with the latest production equipment and is one of the most modern manufacturing premises in Europe. Every instrument in the York Euphonium Range, from component parts to finished product is built here within this impressive facility.

The York euphonium range was developed with the help of Europe'92s finest:

David Childs '96 Euphonium Soloist; David Thornton '96 Principal Euphonium Black Dyke Band; Dr. Robert Childs '96 Euphonium Soloist, Conductor & leading pedagogue; Roland Froeshe '96 Swiss Euphonium Soloist

David Childs now plays exclusively on Schreiber-Keilwerth's York euphoniums and commented:

'93During the last 18 months I'92ve tired many euphoniums including the Yamaha Custom, Walter Nirschl Model, New Besson Prestige and Sterling. In honesty, I've nothing negative to say about any of them; they all have real qualities, but for me they just didn'92t respond in the same way as the ageing British made Besson I'92d become used to and enjoyed playing for so many years. This however was not the case when I tried the first York prototype - it simply felt like home. For this reason I had no hesitation whatsoever in agreeing to work with Schreiber-Keilwerth on the further development of a complete York euphonium range and now feel extremely privileged to be playing what I consider to be the most reliable, versatile euphonium I'92ve ever owned '96 The York Eminence 4052."

York '91Preference'92 euphoniums are now readily available throughout the UK. The Eminence 4052, as played by David Childs, will be available to the public very soon.
