The readers of 4barsrest.com - the world's most visited brass band website have voted David 'Player of the Year' for a 2nd consecutive year.

At the end of 2004 David was voted 'Player of the Year' through the 4barsrest.com annual awards and was a clear winner polling over 50% of the votes cast. However, this year he retained the award in emphatic manner polling 52% of the 12,000 votes cast to become the 2005 Player of the Year.

Prior to the award 4barsrest.com outlined, "For this category we had to look at those players we thought made the greatest impression not only on the brass banding scene, but also in developing their profile as performers to the general public as a whole in the past twelve months. It is of course about how they play on the contest and concert stage, but that isn't everything."

David was delighted with winning the award for a second year running and commented, "It is a great honour to receive an award of this nature voted for by the public. I have a huge amount of respect for many of the other candidates voted for; I appreciate how well they perform which makes this award even more special for me. I will continue to do the best I can for myself and the euphonium both within and outside of the brass band movement, and of course, it would be great to make it three in a row next year, but I have a feeling it might just be someone else's turn!"

Having disclosed the result 4barsrest.com wrote, "There is little doubt that David is the movement's most luminous talent at present with a profile that is being drawn further and further into the consciousness of the non brass band fraternity."
