Euphonium Recital
St Cuthbert's Church 16th February 2006
David Childs Euphonium - Harvey Davies Piano
Review: Chris Prettman - The Cumberland News

With popstar good looks and talent to match, if anyone can bring the euphonium to the attentions of a wider audience, it's David Childs. A wonderful variety of music was given by this exceptional professional soloist. He impressed us with his astonishing technique in Hugo Alfen's Herdmaiden's Dance before continuing his first set with a very expressive concerto, the tranquil Peace, and the well known Carnival of Venice, all with excellent piano accompaniment by Harvey Davies. Later he moved us with the Welsh tune Myfanwy, music from the film The Mission, and a thrilling Sonata. His encore was a beautifully played Maori tune. We were very fortunate to have this wide variety of music all played brilliantly.
